What Is Vampire Facial

A vampire facial is a combination of microneedling and platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Microneedling uses short, fine needles to puncture the skin. These needles range in size from .5 to 2.5 millimeters. Rest assured, the needles feel like tiny pinpricks and only go skin-deep. The pricks are used to “injure” the skin, prompting your skin to heal itself by producing elastin and collagen, and allowing the PRP to penetrate deeper.

IS IT for you

  • The vampire facial offers numerous benefits, such as enhancing the turnover of skin cells and refining skin tone and texture.

  • Microneedling combined with PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) also effectively diminishes fine lines and combats signs of aging.

  • This treatment is particularly beneficial for individuals dealing with acne-related issues, including visible scars, as well as skin damage caused by prolonged sun exposure.

  • By stimulating collagen production and promoting skin regeneration, the vampire facial helps improve overall skin health and appearance.

Steps for Vampire Facial

  1. First, the doctor will clean your skin. They’ll likely also apply a topical numbing cream.
  2. Then, they’ll draw blood (as little as 2 teaspoons) from your arm.
  3. The blood will go into a centrifuge.
  4. Using a small needle, the PRP will be injected back into the face.

  2. Do not use products containing retinols or hydroxy acids for 48 hours after the treatment.
  3. Limit sun exposure
  4. Use Sunblock every 4 to 6 hours post-treatment.
  5. Refrain from, waxing, and bleaching or any facial treatment for 72 hours post-procedure.
  6. Avoid swimming in chlorinated water, using hot tubs, or saunas for 5-7 days.
  7. Avoid wearing makeup on the same day.
  8. Avoid using topical products such as hydroquinone or  tretinoin or scrubbing 3-5 days before treatment.

Popular Questions

Most everyone is a candidate for microneedling with PRP. This procedure can give a fresher appearance to those with wrinkles and fine lines, high levels of solar damage, or uneven skin tones. You may not be a candidate if you have a history of blood disease, including clotting or bleeding disorders.

Microneedling with PRP is administered in an office setting. The first step is the initial blood draw, which is relatively painless. Your blood is then placed in a centrifuge to separate the plasma and platelets from the red blood cells.

Before the microneedling portion of the treatment begins, a topical numbing cream is applied to the face to manage any discomfort of the needling.

Once the numbing cream is active and the microneedling has been completed, the PRP is rubbed on the skin. The PRP should remain on the skin for the rest of the day to maximize results. Patients will notice dry, red, sensitive skin, much like a light sunburn for the first few days after treatment.
